Amherst police take report of assault outside downtown businesses

Detective David Foster said police were contacted by the woman Monday at 6:19 p.m., after she had already returned home.

The woman told police she was jumped by a person in the area of Cousin’s Market at 11 East Pleasant St. and The Pub at 15 East Pleasant St.

Detectives responded to the area to photograph the scene and collect evidence.

Foster said police are still trying to determine what happened. No arrests have been made.
