Bryan Lombardi new principal at Northampton High School
NORTHAMPTON — Northampton High School Associate Principal Bryan Lombardi will be the school’s new principal as of July 1.
Lombardi, 45, who has been associate principal for six years, will replace Nancy Athas, who is retiring this summer.
A resident of Florence and a former associate principal of Minnechaug Regional High School in Wilbraham, Lombardi was chosen by a 12-member search committee from a pool of 43 applicants and three finalists for the principal’s post at NHS.
“I am honored and excited for the opportunity,” Lombardi said last week, before final interviews were held with school administrators and the public.
Lombardi accepted the post Monday morning at a salary of $98,000.
Lombardi, who is married and has a son attending NHS. holds a bachelor’s degree in history from Bridgewater State University and a master’s degree in social work from Boston College.
The NHS principal’s search is one of three administrative searches recently launched in Northampton.
Earlier this month, the School Department announced that Sarah J.B. Madden will be the new principal of R.K. Finn Ryan Road School beginning in July. Searches are also in progress for a new superintendent to replace Brian Salzer, who is leaving in July, and for Leeds School principal to replace Joseph Smith, who is resigning as of June 30.
