South Hadley police seek suspect in attempted abduction
SOUTH HADLEY — The South Hadley Police Department is seeking the driver of Jeep who allegedly tried to abduct two young girls Wednesday afternoon.
In a statement, police said the girls were standing in front of their San Souci Drive home around 4 p.m., when a man driving a black Jeep Wrangler drove up, slowed down and yelled, “Get in.” Frightened, the girls ran to their home and the Jeep sped off in the direction of Upper River Road.
Police said the Jeep is an older model that has lost its shine with tinted windows. A bumper sticker or decal is located near or below the license plate.
Police are asking for the public’s help in locating the vehicle and requesting that residents remain especially vigilant in the wake of the incident.
Police said they had no further information Friday evening. Anybody with information about the suspect or his vehicle is asked to call the South Hadley detective bureau at 538-8231.
