EASTHAMPTON — Ever wondered what it’s like to photograph the Olympics?

The Williston Northampton School is hosting a free public program on that topic Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in the Dodge Room of the school’s Reed Campus Center.

Ron Wyatt, a self-taught photographer who was assigned by Kodak to photograph the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens and the 2008 Games in Beijing, will share his experiences behind the lens. His presentation, which event organizers say will be of interest to both professional and amateur photographers, will include discussion of equipment, developing a shooting strategy and the importance of knowing the game.

Wyatt’s website says his first experience as a photographer “was an unsuccessful photo documentation of my honeymoon. Armed with a borrowed instamatic camera, he learned that camera shake will not produce great photos.”

Since then, Wyatt’s photographs have been seen in USA Today, Time, Newsweek Black Enterprise Magazine, and other national publications. In addition to the Olympics, he has covered the NBA, NFL and Major League Baseball, according to his website. Wyatt’s corporate clients include Six Flags, Eastman Kodak, Continental Airlines and Verizon, among others.

For details about his talk at Williston, call Kathleen Unruh at 529-3211 or visit the school’s website, www.williston.com.
