Easthampton counterfeiter Shayne Fleming-Pancione sentenced to 33 months in prison

Shayne M. Fleming-Pancione, 36, of 120 Union St., Unit 2, pleaded guilty to a charge of manufacturing and distributing counterfeit U.S. currency in February.

The counterfeiting case stems from manufacturing and distributing counterfeit $20 bills in Easthampton and Southampton in August and September 2011. He spent about $200-worth of these bills at fast-food restaurants and convenience stores, according to police reports.

U.S. Attorney Carmen M. Ortiz said Fleming-Pancione’s prison sentence is 33 months, followed by three years of suspended release.

He is already facing prison time for a previous bank robbery in Brattleboro, Vt., Aug. 13, 2011, in which he took $3,050 and threatened to shoot the bank tellers, though he didn’t show a weapon. He pleaded guilty to a count of grand larceny and was sentenced to eight years in prison.
