Candidates forum set for Monday in Hadley

HADLEY — The Mother’s Club will host a candidates forum Monday at Hopkins Academy.

The event, open to all candidates for elected office in Hadley, will be held in the cafeteria. It will start with a meet and greet at 6:30 p.m.

Beginning at 7 p.m. the candidates will each have the opportunity to give a five-minute statement and respond to any comments made about him or her by other participants. Following the introduction, the audience will be invited to submit written questions, and the moderator will select questions to ask the candidates.

The only contested race in the election is for Select Board. Four candidates are running for two open seats on the board. They are John Mieczkowski, a former Select Board member; Wilfred Danylieko, an electrical inspector for the town and vice chairman of the Hadley Housing Authority; Guilford Mooring, head of the Amherst Department of Public Works; and John C. Waskiewicz II, assistant chief operator of the town’s wastewater treatment plant.

Maureen Jacque, who is organizing the event for the Mother’s Club, said the candidate for the School Committee, Heather Klesch, and the candidate for Planning Board, James Maksimoski, have also said that they will be at the event.
