Photography workshop, contest coming to Amherst Winter Farmers Market
AMHERST — A photography workshop is being launched at the weekly Amherst Winter Farmers Market Saturday morning.
Nikki Gardner of Art & Lemons in Williamsburg is leading the hands-on workshop, which will explore the art of mobile photography by capturing the scene of farmers, shoppers and produce at the market.
Photographic techniques involving light, composition, framing and exposure will be taught, as well as how to tell a story through the visuals. The lesson will conclude with shooting, processing and printing images.
Gardner will also be at the market, held at the Amherst Regional Middle School at 170 Chestnut St., on Feb. 9 and March 9.
To register for the program, email Gardner at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 207-1579.
In conjunction with Gardner’s workshop, a photo contest is taking place in which people can submit pictures with the theme of the winter market.
The market will accept entries through March 18, with all submitted photos to be displayed at the market March 23 and voted on by customers that day. The first- through fourth-place winners will get baskets filled with produce.
For more information about the contest, call market manager Tamsin Flanders at 230-5920 or email email@example.com.
