Jimmie Acevedo second homicide victim of year in Springfield
SPRINGFIELD (AP) — Springfield police have released the identity of the city’s second homicide victim of the year.
Police received a call for shots fired just before 6 a.m. Wednesday.
Responding officers found an unresponsive 42-year-old Jimmie Acevedo on the ground outside suffering from multiple gunshots wounds. He was taken by ambulance to Baystate Medical Center where he was pronounced dead about a half hour later.
Police said Acevedo was found less than a mile from his home. Nearby residents reported hearing several shots.
The shooting remains under investigation and there was no word on suspects.
