A Rape Aggression Defense System class for women will be held at the police station beginning Jan. 7.

Taught by Sgt. Jesus Arocho, Detective Janet Lopez and Officer Jessica Damon, all certified instructors, the free class will run Jan. 7, Jan. 10, Jan. 14 and Jan. 17 from 5 to 8 p.m. Participants will learn about prevention, risk reduction and risk avoidance and hands-on defense training.

Meanwhile, the Police Department is reminding senior citizens that they can participate in the R U Ok? Program, in which emergency dispatchers make daily calls to homebound elderly and disabled individuals to ensure they are well.
