AREA POLICE NEWS

Amherst

∎ Gates Barnard Larson, 49, of 143 Stanley St., was arrested Tuesday at 1:07 a.m. on Belchertown Road on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and operating a motor vehicle with no inspection sticker, police said.

∎ Shane Bowen, 21, of 253 West St., was arrested Monday at 5:31 p.m. at the police station on a warrant, police said.

Easthampton

∎ John J. O’Brien, 36, of 10 Jessie Lane, was arrested on Main Street Wednesday on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and driving the wrong way on a one-way street after police received a call about an erratic operator traveling from Southampton into Easthampton.

∎ Jayson Stinson, 29, 30 Gatehouse Road, Apt. 103, Amherst, was arrested on Everett Street Wednesday at 6:11 p.m. on two warrants.

Hadley

∎ Police are investigating the theft of a grass seeder stolen from a barn at a North Hadley location reported Monday at 4:33 p.m.

Northampton

∎ Keila E. Rivera, 35, of Holyoke, was arrested about 12:02 a.m. Thursday on Main Street on charges of operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license (subsequent offense), and operating a motor vehicle that does not meet safety standards following a traffic stop.

∎ Michael Joseph Lane, 41, of 43 Center St., was arrested about 5:58 p.m. Wednesday on Center Street on a charge of shoplifting by concealing merchandise (third offense), and a warrant issued from Holyoke District Court on a charge of failing to register as a sex offender.

∎ Thomas Arthur Bower, 43, of 129 King St., Apt. 2B, was arrested about 4:23 p.m. Wednesday on Center Street on charges of intimidation of a witness and criminal harassment (subsequent offense) after allegedly violating a no-contact order.

∎ Police are investigating a report of a robbery at the Market Street Laundry. According to police, a change machine, valued at about $3500, was broken into and an undetermined amount of cash, mostly in quarters, was taken sometime between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. Wednesday.

∎ A 15-year-old Hatfield resident will be summoned to juvenile court on a charge of throwing an object on a public way, after allegedly tossing a large rock and striking the side of a moving taxi on Pine Street in Florence about 3 p.m. Wednesday.

UMass

∎ Cady Lalanne, 20, of Orlando, Fla., was arrested Saturday at 9:21 p.m. at the Student Union on charges of disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and assault and battery on a police officer, police said.

∎ John Gawienowski, 54, of 472 North Pleasant St., Amherst, was arrested Thursday at 12:17 p.m. on Clark Hill Road on charges of operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license and operating a motor vehicle with no inspection sticker and on a warrant, police said.
