Northwestern Children’s Alliance in Northampton wins accreditation
NORTHAMPTON (AP) — A children’s alliance in Northampton where victims of abuse and their families receive services has been awarded national accreditation.
The Northwestern Children’s Alliance recently won accreditation from the National Children’s Alliance.
Northwestern District Attorney David Sullivan says the accreditation recognizes excellence in service after a months-long application and site-review process.
The alliance has a child-friendly house where victims of abuse can receive a variety of services during criminal investigations. The goal is to allow children to be interviewed outside of a police station and to reduce the number of times a child victim has to speak with investigators.
The alliance serves residents of the Northwestern District of Hampshire and Franklin counties, and the town of Athol. It has provided services to more than 500 local children since opening in 2006.
