Car crash on Rocky Hill Road sends man to Baystate
HADLEY — A car crash on Rocky Hill Road sent a man to Baystate Medical Center Friday evening.
Hadley firefighters used hydraulic rescue tools to remove the door of the vehicle and extract the driver, who police had yet to identify, said Sgt. Damion Shanley. “From what I know he was in and out of consciousness ,” Shanley said. He said he had no further information on the man’s injuries.
More information about the accident was expected to be available Monday. Police are still investigating the cause of the accident, which occurred shortly before 9 p.m., Shanley said. “We are really unsure of the cause of the incident, but at some point he left the road in the general vicinity of 123 Rocky Hill Road,” Shanley said.
The red minivan could be seen sitting beside the road, its front end smashed against a tree, the front bumper strewn about on the ground before it. The driver side door of the vehicle had been removed.
