Police: Beware phone scam concerning computer viruses

The resident contacted police Friday at 12:24 p.m. after getting a call from a person pretending to be Microsoft technician Brad Brown, police said. Brown allegedly told the resident that he would remove the viruses from the tablet for $450. Instead, after using a debit card to pay for the work, the owner determined that the technician had installed multiple viruses on the device.

Police said the resident later paid another $80 at a computer repair store to have the viruses removed from the tablet.
