ROBIN’S NEST AND EGGS
Pomerory Meadow Road, Southampton
Photograph and text by Lynsey E. Brodeur, age 11
I found this nest last year in a small tree at the U.S. Post Office in Southampton. I kept an eye on the nest waiting for the eggs to hatch, but before they could, something got to the nest and destroyed it. I tried to get a picture, but I didn’t have a very good camera and it didn’t come out. I got a much better camera for my birthday this year and I love to use it. I looked for the nest again this year and it had been rebuilt with two eggs in it. I went back a couple of days later and there were four eggs in it. That’s when I got this picture, by reaching up and pointing it into the nest and taking the shot. I had it on the macro setting and had to hurry because the mother bird was getting very upset with me being there.
