COMMUNITY BLOOD DRIVE

The American Red Cross holds a blood drive Aug. 19 at the Hotel Northampton at 36 King St., sponsored by It’s PAWSible! Dog Training Center and Day Camp.

The drive will run from 1:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. All donors will receive a coupon toward puppy or basic obedience class; the event also includes raffles of dog related items.

Appointments can be scheduled by calling 800-RED-CROSS.

NEW BOOK ON HEARTBURN

Nutritional therapist Craig Fear of Northampton has released his first book, an ebook called “The 30-Day Heartburn Solution.”

Available online, the book offers a three-step nutrition program to stop acid reflux without the use of medications. It’s available online at www.the30dayheartburnsolution.com.

The book discusses causes of acid reflux, problems with acid-blocking drugs, preventing heartburn with dietary changes and more.

BAYSTATE NAMES DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR

Jane Albert has been named vice president of development for Baystate Health and executive director of the Baystate Health Foundation.

“Jane has a range of career experiences and skills that make her ideal for this leadership role. Her dedication to Baystate — our patients and their families — is exceptional. She has lifelong relationships within our community and has worked both professionally and as a volunteer in philanthropy,” said Mark R.
