PFLAG MEETING

The Franklin-Hampshire Chapter of Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbian and Gays holds its next meeting Aug. 13, 6 to 8 p.m., in the conference room of Highland Valley Elder Services in the Cutlery Building, 320 Riverside Drive, Northampton.

PFLAG offers welcoming support, education and advocacy for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people and their families, friends and allies.

HELP FOR HIP AND
KNEE PAIN

Cooley Dickinson Hospital offers a program Aug. 8 on common causes of hip and knee pain and treatments, including conservative, alternative and surgical options.

The class, which is free of charge, will be held at 10 a.m. at the hospital’s Mannheim Conference Room. It will be taught by Anne Ridabock of the Joint Replacement Center.

BLOOD PRESSURE CLINIC

A free blood pressure clinic is offered the first Tuesday of every month from 10 a.m. to noon at the Northampton Senior Center.

The next clinic is Aug. 6. Any community member is welcome. No referral or registration is needed. For more information contact Kelly Charest at 413-582-2216.

GATHERING FOR NEW PARENTS and babies

“Beyond Birth: A Gathering of New Parents and their Babies” offers free support to parents of babies up to 4 months of age at Cooley Dickinson Hospital.

Parents talk about anything related to being a parent and to caring for babies.Topics include sleeping, breast and bottle feeding, vaccines and more. A parent education specialist facilitates the group and helps participants get to know each other. All are welcome.

This group meets Thursdays, 1 to 3 p.m. Please contact Laura Kistenmacher at 413-582-2062 for more information.
