Hathaways celebrate 50th

Richard and Patricia Hathaway of Huntington celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at a surprise party on Aug. 18 given by their daughters, Kim Carriveau and Carrie Baker, and their families.

Richard “Bub” Hathaway and Patricia Fondakowski were married Aug. 25, 1962, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Easthampton.

The Rev. James Sipitkowski, the former pastor of Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish, renewed the couple’s vows at the party. Their children and grandchildren read Scripture passages and sang “Ave Maria.”

Among the guests were three members of the couple’s wedding party, Christine (Fondakowski) Sanborn, the maid of honor and sister of the bride; Charlotte (Hathaway) Ross, a bridesmaid and sister of the groom; and Mary (Brin) Shelkey, a bridesmaid.

The Hathaways resided in Easthampton for many years before moving to Huntington in 1987. Bub works at KAD Industries in South Hadley and Pat is retired from the food services department at Easthampton High School.

The spelling of KAD Industries was corrected on Oct. 1.
