FAMILY WANTED

24 light two lines goes here

Averic is a 9-year-old African-American boy seeking a permanent home.

He is quiet and reserved in new situations, but is able to form relationships once comfortable. Averic has good self-help skills and can also be very helpful to others. Averic is a good eater and is in good health.

In addition to going to the Boys and Girls Club, Averic enjoys playing outside, riding his bicycle, playing with his action figures and video games.

His conduct can be inconsistent in school, but his counselor states that overall he is polite and cooperative. At home, Averic responds to strict and clear limits and benefits from a behavior management chart. He would do best in a two-parent family, possibly with older children who could serve as role models for him.

To learn more about Averic, and about adoption from foster care, call the Massachusetts Adoption Resource Exchange at 617-54-ADOPT (617-542-3678) or visit MAREinc.org.

∎ Note: An adoption party for children with special needs will take place at The Therapeutic Equestrian Center, 537 Northampton St., Holyoke, on Saturday, June 22, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

The party will give children who are seeking a home to meet families who want to adopt. There will be arts and crafts in a playground environment geared to meet the needs of children with handicaps. Adoptive families will be able to speak with social workers, foster families and adoptive families already experienced in caring for and parenting children with disabilities. Pizza will be served; the event is open to the public.
