DA leads drive to help domestic violence victims
BOSTON (AP) — Middlesex District Attorney Gerry Leone has presented seven domestic violence organizations with supplies for victims who live in shelters.
The annual Domestic Violence Shelter Drive is an effort by Gerry Leone’s office to provide gift baskets to every domestic violence shelter in Middlesex County during the holiday season.
Leone said the gift baskets are designed to help victims who are forced to leave their belongings behind when they flee an abusive relationship.
The baskets contain toiletries, laundry supplies, baby clothes, diapers, formula and toys.
The shelters receiving gift baskets are: Alternative House in Lowell, REACH Beyond Domestic Violence in Waltham, RESPOND in Somerville and Malden, Transition House in Cambridge, Voices Against Violence in Framingham, the Gay Men’s Domestic Violence Project and the Asian Task Force Against Domestic Violence.
