200 Years Ago

Martin Giles calls on all persons indebted to him on book or note to call and settle the same before the first of January. Also, wanted, an apprentice to the blacksmith business, a boy from 14 to 16 years of age.

On the evening of Monday, the 21st inst., a horse belonging to John Breck was stabbed in his off side, under the shed of Capt. Elijah Allen. Any person who will detect the villain who perpetrated the deed, so as to convict him before a court of justice, shall received 25 dollars reward.

Harvey Vanasse has secured the largest number of members in the Y.M.C.A. membership contest and this evening he will receive a silver cup after the weekly Bible class supper.

A Christmas entertainment for the little folks of the kindergarten and first grade of the primary department of the Sunday school of the First Church will be held on Tueday afternoon.

Work on the community skating rink on Cosmian Green was started yesterday by Harvey W. Rolland, chairman of the skating rink committee of the Florence Civic and Business Assn. The spraying began at 1:00 and he was assisted by Billy Rolland, Jimmie Miller and Allan Lavallee.

A water pipe burst in an apartment over Tepper’s Store in Florence yesterday. Employees avoided damage to merchandise by covering it with plastic material. Firefighters were called and the water shut off.
