200 Years Ago

John Williams & Co. have received a large supply of large and small Bibles, the Book of Family Prayers, school books, and children’s boy books.

Died at Williamsburg, the 1st inst., Miss Polly Johnson, aged 21 years; in Northampton, on the 7th inst., Mr. Hezekiah Moody, aged 46 years.

100 Years Ago

Considerable excitement took place after midnight Sunday morning when two young men started a fight at the corner of Pleasant and Main streets. Both had indulged too freely in intoxicants and it was with considerable difficulty that the fighters were separated.

We are under obligation to E. Cyrus Miller for a box of his excellent Baldwin apples from the Hiillside Orchard in Haydenville. They are really fine, so much so that they were given a prominent position in a display of agricultural productions at our late Thanksgiving festival, where they attracted much attention.

50 Years Ago

A dinner dance has been planned on Dec. 27 at the Whale Inn, Goshen, for a list of “21” or more congenial Northamptonites between the ages of 21 and 31. Tom Hodgkins and Dick Fish have sent invitations to the list of members.

In a sparkling holiday setting at the German American Hall, members of St. John Cantius Women’s Club held a brief meeting recently with Mrs. John Kowcenuk presiding. Two new members were sponsored. They are Mrs. Charles Swinarski and Miss Anna Bak.
