200 Years Ago

A good assortment of sable muffs and tippetts, from 15 to 35 dollars, is for sale at the store of Justin Ely, in West Springfield.

A meeting of the proprietors of the Northampton Bridge will be held at the dwelling house of Jonas Clark, innholder, in Northampton, on Monday, the 30th day of November current, at one o’clock, P.M.

100 Years Ago

There will be a public installation of the officers of Northampton Royal Arch chapter, Wednesday evening. The installing officer will be E.G. Best, assisted by Edward J. Reece, both of Greenfield. After the installation there will be refreshments and music.

The returns from the hunters, many of whom went out early this morning deer hunting, came in slowly today, and there were more rumors of what hunters had secured than there were instances of real captures of deer.

50 Years Ago

Mr. and Mrs. Bernard J. Vaughn today submitted their resignations from two municipal boards, because of the transfer of Mr. Vaughn to Meriden, Conn., in connection with his employment as office manager for the international Silver Co.

Police are investigating a report from Postmaster John Murphy that someone has taken one of the evergreens from in front of the Post Office. The barreled plants were given to the Post Office by the Junior Chamber of Commerce. They are placed between pillars in front of the Pleasant Street building.
