Federal, state, local authorities converge on Amherst home
AMHERST — A drug investigation by federal, state and local law enforcement agencies has been taking place at an Amherst home this week.
Mary Carey, a spokeswoman for the Northwestern District Attorney’s office, said Thursday that a Homeland Security-led probe is ongoing at 632 South Pleasant St. The residence is not owner occupied and includes several apartments.
As of Wednesday afternoon, no arrests had been made, Carey said.
Numerous vehicles have been parked on the street this week and uniformed law-enforcement personnel have been observed in the driveway and entering the dwelling.
Amherst police officers have twice provided assistance at the scene, first Monday at 11:51 a.m. for what was described on police logs as a federal warrant service, and again Wednesday at 12:43 p.m., when they provided resources to other agencies.
Amherst police referred questions to the district attorney’s office.
