EASTHAMPTON — A 15-year-old Easthampton boy was injured when a car collided with his bicycle on Pleasant Street Tuesday.
The boy was treated and released from Cooley Dickinson Hospital. He was bicycling north in the southbound lane of Pleasant Street at 11:45 a.m. when a car driven by Cote F. Rice, 27, of Greenfield, pulled out of Prospect Street and struck him, according to police.
Rice told police that he stopped and looked both ways at the intersection, but didn’t see the bicyclist until he pulled out and struck him. According to an accident report, police do not consider Rice to be at fault because his view was obstructed by a telephone pole and because the boy was bicycling on the wrong side of the road.
