Gabby Thomas of Florence shines for Williston at NEPSAC track championship

Gabby Thomas put the finishing touches on an outstanding sophomore track & field season for Williston Northampton Saturday.
The Florence resident won her third straight 100-meter dash title in 12.98 seconds at the NEPSAC Division 2 Championships, which were held at Williston.
Thomas’ time shattered Seanne Denny’s Division 2 meet record of 12.31, set for Thayer Academy in 2010.
Thomas also placed second in the triple jump with a mark of 36 feet, 6 inches. She then anchored the third-place 4x100 relay team (51.56), which also featured Lena Gandevia of Hadley.
Thomas earned All-New England honors in each event.
She is the school record holder in the long jump, triple jump and 100 dash.
Williston placed eighth with 32 points. Thayer Academy won the championship with 133.
On the boys side, Williston placed sixth with 33 points. Berkshire School won with 106.
Alec Johnson won the pole vault with a height of 12 feet for the Wildcats. Michael Walters placed second in the 200 in 22.80 and was third in the triple jump (42-73∕4).
Division 1 meet
Caroline Sullivan, of South Hadley, placed second in 4:46.20 in the 1,500 for Northfield Mount Hermon at the NEPSAC Division 1 championship, held Saturday at Choate Rosemary Hall.
Sullivan also placed sixth in the 800 in 2:23.79 for Northfield, which placed sixth with 38 points.
