Angela Zhu threw five goals and caught two more as the Amherst Regional girls ultimate team beat Pioneer Valley Performing Arts 15-3 Thursday in the Hurricanes’ first game against high school competition.

Zoe Freedman-Coleman caught four goals, while Mei Reffsin threw four for Amherst (1-0).

Girls lacrosse

Longmeadow 16, South Hadley 1 — Maddie Brandts scored from Kelly Pouliot for the only tally for the Tigers (4-6, 2-5 Valley Wheel) in the road loss.

Minnechaug 15, Northampton 1 — Emily Allcroft scored the lone goal for the Blue Devils (5-5, 2-5 Valley Wheel) at home.
