Cassie Long: Pro-gun stance doesn’t equate to addiction

To The editor:

In response to Bill Ames’ letter to the editor, I found it pretty hypocritical. In his last sentence he said, “Let’s not have demeaning comments from pro-gun addicts.” The way he refers to people with a pro-gun stance as “addicts” is demeaning. Not every pro-gun citizen is an addict. I understand and agree that guns available to the public should not have so many rounds and that assault rifles shouldn’t be sold to anyone who wants one, but generalizing every person who believes in our Second Amendment as a “gun addict” is ridiculous. No one wants to be called an addict. His pointless words just add fuel to an already heated debate.
