Northampton High School screens ‘The Big Picture’ about dyslexia
The documentary film “The Big Picture,” which aired on HBO last fall and was widely acclaimed at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival, will be shown in Northampton, airing Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Northampton High School.
The Special Education Parent Advisory Council is hosting the screening. Organizers say the movie empowers parents and students with clear and precise information from experts in their fields. One clear message from parents interviewed is they all wished they had understood dyslexia more when their children were young, and that schools and educators understood what the diagnosis of dyslexia means in the educating of their children.
The film is appropriate for children in sixth grade and up, and parents are encouraged to bring them.
