Ryan Edward Rasys, 23, of 58 North East St., was arrested at his home on two counts of unarmed robbery, said Detective Lt. Ronald Young.

The arrest of Rasys came about an hour after a report from management at Amherst Pharmacy, 381 College St., at 4:30 p.m., that a man had come into the store, wearing a ski mask over his face, demanded prescription medication both in writing and by verbal command, and then left on foot once he had the drugs in hand.

“He presented a note and gave instructions to the pharmacist” Young said.

Earlier incident

The incident was similar to one Monday at 5:07 p.m. at CVS Pharmacy, 76 North Pleasant St. In both cases, the suspect presented a hand-written note and didn’t show a weapon.

The surveillance camera from the CVS robbery showed a man with a winter cap covering his head and a scarf covering most of his face.

Young said the man did get away with unspecified types and amounts of narcotics in both cases, some of which have been recovered.

The detective bureau is asking for the public’s help if they interacted with the suspect in any way this week by calling 259-3000.

Both robberies remain under investigation.

Young said employees at both stores acted in a professional manner and handled the situations as well as possible.

“Most importantly, there were no injuries,” Young said. “Neither the pharmacists nor anyone in the stores were injured.”
