Walter Krzeminski: HCC baseball coach leads admirable life
To the editor:
Holyoke Community College head baseball coach Terry Murphy is beginning his 58th season of being associated with at least one baseball team per season as a player or coach, beginning in the Holyoke Little League in 1956 and advancing up through the ranks — Holyoke Junior leagues, Lawrence Junior High, American Legion, Tri County semi professional, Holyoke High School and Stonehill College batting star and high school and college coach.
Murphy has earned a place in local baseball lore as a legendary local figure. Murphy’s HCC baseball clubs have become a popular team, always fielding a top squad of the area’s best ballplayers. It’s a pleasure to watch and follow in the papers — well worth looking into.
