Easthampton schools host screenings for special needs students

The city school department is holding early childhood screenings Monday through Thursday at Maple School on Chapel Street for children aged 3-5 whose birth dates mean they are not yet eligible for public kindergarten.

Parents who believe their child has a special educational need or parents of typical children who are interested in being peer partners in the district’s Early Childhood Program can call for a screening appointment at 529-1500, ext. 120, between 8:15 and 10:15 a.m.

The state mandates early childhood services for children with special needs.

For more information, call Ann Knapp, special education director for the city schools at 529-1500, ext. 120.
