Eat for Education benefits Northampton High School on Tuesday

Looking for a way to combine food and philanthropy? The upcoming Eat for Education fundraiser for Northampton High School is a chance to do both.

Twenty-eight participating restaurants will donate 10 percent of meal sales on Tuesday to the high school PTO. Posters designed by Marissa Hebble of the Northampton Prevention Coalition will alert diners to which restaurants have signed on.

In Northampton, the roster is Amanouz Cafe, Bela, Bistro les Gras, Bueno y Sano, Eastside Grill, GoBerry, Green Bean, Haymarket Cafe, Herrell’s, Ibiza Tapas, Joe’s Cafe & Pizza House, Local Burger, Mosaic Cafe, Osaka, Paul and Elizabeth’s, Pinocchio’s Pizza, Roberto’s, Siam Square, State Street Deli, Sylvester’s, Taipei & Tokyo, Thai Garden, The Roost and Zen.

In Florence, participating establishments are Cooper’s Corner, Cup & Top Cafe, Great Wall and Side Street Cafe.

Last year’s the Eat for Education event raised more than $5,000, which the PTO used for technology upgrades and student programs such as the Northampton High School Poetry Slam.

Given the budget shortfall projected for next year, “supplemental funds from the PTO will be especially important to NHS in the coming year,” said PTO co-chairwoman Ruth Ever, in a statement announcing the event. “Let’s set a record for community participation and funds raised.”

Event details are available on Facebook and the NHS website, nhs.northampton-k12.us, or by contacting Monica Green at mgreen@periodyssey.com, 585-1074.
