Attorney General Martha Coakley’s office to host series of open meeting forums
BOSTON (AP) — State Attorney General Martha Coakley’s office is planning regional educational forums on the state’s open meetings law.
The forums are planned in Ayer, Greenfield, Springfield and Waltham this month and in April and May.
In 2010, Coakley’s office assumed responsibility for enforcement of the law from the state’s district attorneys.
The forums are part of an effort by Coakley’s office to help public boards in understanding and complying with the requirements of the law. The forums will be conducted by attorneys and staff from the attorney general’s Division of Open Government and are open to the public.
The first is scheduled for March 28 at Ayer Town Hall.
Since taking over enforcement of the law, Coakley’s office has conducted or participated in 81 trainings across the state.
