Paul Yandoli: On safeguarding Calvin Theater’s sign
To the editor:
I just read an article about the Calvin Theater sign getting hit frequently by delivery trucks parking on the sidewalk (“A problem all can “C,’ ” Gazette, Feb. 26). I have to agree that what was once a pretty sharp looking marquee now looks pretty shabby.
Suggestion: Once they get around to fixing it (hopefully soon), how about installing a row of cast iron stanchions at the edge of the curb under the marquee?
You see them all the time in cities here and in Europe to keep vehicles from where they are not wanted. Might help prevent the risk of repeated damage once it’s repaired.
