Belchertown boys fall to Renaissance in the Spalding Hoophall Classic
Zach Parsons had a big game on a big stage, but it wasn’t enough for the Belchertown boys basketball team Friday.
Parsons had 16 points, 16 rebounds, three blocks and two assists in the’ Orioles 66-46 loss to Renaissance at the Spalding Hoophall Classic at Springfield College.
Tyler Verville added 12 points and five steals for Belchertown (3-6), which has lost five straight games.
The Orioles shot 15 for 60 (.250) in the game and just 6 for 32 (.188) in the first half.
The Phoenix (10-2) led 12-11 after the first quarter, but pulled way with a 15-7 advantage in the second.
John Togba had a game-high 24 points and nine rebounds for Renaissance, which clinched a Western Massachusetts Division 3 Tournament berth with the win.
