Wednesday’s prep schools: Williston boys ice Vermont Academy

AJ Unker netted a hat trick and had an assist as the Williston boys hockey team defeated Vermont Academy 7-4 in Saxtons River, Vt., Wednesday.

Jean-Gabriel Lacombe, Kyle Hall and Brandon Borges each added a goal in the win.

Tim Keegan made 26 saves for the Wildcats.

Girls basketball

Deerfield 44, Williston 43 — Kate Ginna scored a team-high 18 points and Becca Harrington added 10 as Deerfield (1-9) earned its first victory of the season in Easthampton.

Harrington’s free throw with 3.5 seconds left was the game winner.

Natalia Ovando scored a game-high 22 points for the Wildcats (3-6) and had a game-tying 3-pointer with 15 seconds remaining.

Sarah Marion of Granby scored 13 points in the loss.

Boys skiiing

Deerfield placed first with 402 points in the second Mount Institute League race of the season.

Williston was seventh with 352 points.

Dylan Alvarez of Deerfield won with a combined time of 89.11 seconds.

Girls skiing

Deerfield Academy placed second with 258 points behind Northfield Mount Hermon in the second Mount Institute League race of the season.

Williston was fourth with 172 points.

Lauren Stobierski of Deerfield won with a combined time of 92.28 seconds.
