Tuesday’s downhill skiing: Frontier’s Sean Doyle finishes second in giant slalom

Sean Doyle of Frontier Regional finished second overall in the PVIAC boys giant slalom ski race Tuesday at Berkshire East in Charlemont.

Doyle posted a time of 26.33 seconds for the Red Hawks, who came in fifth as a team in the North Division.

A pair of Amherst skiers, Jon Simonds (sixth, 26.93) and Greg Lerner (seventh, 27.02), also had top-10 performances as the Hurricanes were third in the North.

In the girls slalom, Madison Mientka was the lone top 10 local finisher with a time of 40.96 to lead Northampton to a first-place showing in the South.
