Writer seeks reasoned debate on gun control
To the editor:
In response to a letter in the Gazette (Jan. 12-13), I say this to its author: Your inflammatory, intemperate words make it impossible for gun owners like me to have a responsible discussion on the need to reduce gun violence in America. Of course we understand the Constitution’s Second Amendment, although you and I may disagree on the meaning of “a well regulated militia.”
What you need to worry about is section 3 of Article III on treason. Do you really mean to “levy war” against the United States? Are you willing to give aid and comfort to the enemies of this country? Or are you declaring yourself an enemy? As the prophet Isaiah said (1:18), “Come now, let us reason together.” Help us lower the temperature of the debate.
