South Hadley Democratic Committee to meet
SOUTH HADLEY — The South Hadley Democratic Town Committee will meet Jan. 17 at 7 p.m., in the Select Board Meeting Room at Town Hall at 116 Main St.
The committee welcomes all South Hadley Democrats interested in coordinating with the state party, assisting with political campaigns and fundraisers and working on local issues.
This is the first meeting of the committee since the November election, when President Obama was re-elected and Elizabeth Warren won her race for the U.S. Senate. With Sen. John Kerry expected to be confirmed as the new Secretary of State, the committee anticipates working for the Democratic candidate prior to a senatorial special election later this year. The committee also will be setting the schedule and planning for a caucus in February or March to elect delegates to the Democratic State Convention in June.
Committee members continue to volunteer once a month for the Food for Friends program, delivering weekend meals to Meals on Wheels recipients. This month, their participation coincides with President Obama’s “National Day of Service” on Jan. 19, a holiday created to honor the vision of Martin Luther King Jr., with a focus on serving our communities.
The South Hadley Democratic Town Committee normally meets on a monthly basis, and meeting dates, time and locations are posted at the town website. For more information about the committee and its work, contact Chairwoman Sarah Etelman at firstname.lastname@example.org or Vice-Chairwoman Ann Eaton at 533-0346 or email@example.com.
