Wednesday’s colleges: Smith College takes down Westfield State
Senior guard Devon Quattrocchi had 18 points and four steals as the Smith College women’s basketball team opened the new year with an 82-60 victory over host Westfield State University Wednesday.
The Pioneers (9-1) played their first game in three weeks. The Owls (8-5) played for the third time in four days.
Smith jumped on Westfield early. A 15-2 run midway through the first half gave the Pioneers a 27-11 lead.
Sydney Parkmond had 16 points, Alyssa Barrett added 11 and Paulina Solis chipped in with 10 points.
Harvard 85, UMass 59 — Nola Henry had 15 points and Kiara Bomben added 11 but the Minutewomen (2-12) fell on the road.
Millie Niggeling added nine points off the bench in the loss.
UMass trailed 48-29 at halftime and couldn’t recover.
Four players reached double digits for the Crimson (8-5).
