For the week ending Dec. 28, the sale of a home in Amherst was the highest recorded property transaction in Hampshire and southern Franklin counties, followed by sales of homes in South Hadley and Northampton.

Paul R. and Sue R. Higgins of Middletown, R.I., sold a Colonial-style home at 273 Leverett Road in Amherst for $767,500 to John G. Bryan of Cincinnati, Ohio, trustee of the John G. Bryan Revocable Trust.

Built in 2004 and situated on 2.48 acres, the 2,639-square-foot home has five bedrooms and four full bathrooms. It features cherry wood floors, two fireplaces, a three-season porch, an inground pool and a central sound system, according to published real estate reports. The property is assessed at $744,200 and was last sold for $714,000 in 2004.

The second-highest sale, for $405,000, involved a newly built home at 13 Red Bridge Lane in South Hadley. J.N. Duquette & Son Construction Inc. of Feeding Hills sold the 1,862-square-foot, three-bedroom, two-bathroom house to Luigi Solla Jr. of South Hadley.

The third-highest sale, for $380,000, occurred in the Florence section of Northampton. Donald R. Warburton, trustee of the Kaiser Realty Trust, sold a ranch home on 18.7 acres at 167 North Farms Road to James S. Golec and Linda Lee Warburton. Built in 1967, the 1,957-square-foot home has three bedrooms and 1.5 bathrooms. The property is assessed at $373,700, land records show.
