Guards at our schools can help ensure safety
To the editor:
After the tragic Sandy Hook Elementary School shootings, it is time to hire vigilant policemen to stand at every school to protect our little angels.
Sandy Hook’s tragedy reminded me of a meeting Mayor David Narkewicz held at the Northampton Council on Aging in September.
He discussed motorists violating the Jackson Street School crossing and disregarding the guard, too. Motorists who do so should be punished.
Last night, ABC TV showed an unarmed soldier standing by a school. This will discourage a would-be shooter by appearing so formidable.
