Two dead, four injured after car hits tree in Taunton
TAUNTON (AP) — Police have identified the victims in a one-car crash in southeastern Massachusetts that killed two teenagers and injured four other people, and say speed was a factor.
Authorities say Taunton residents Jason Neto and Eden Macedo, both 18, died after their car hit a tree off Bay Street shortly before 12:30 a.m. Sunday. Neto was back-seat passenger and Macedo was a front-seat passenger. Macedo’s father owns the car.
Also injured were the driver, 24-year-old Nicholas Costa of Taunton, and three other passengers, 18-year-old Ashley Rivera, 21-year-old Jose Rodriguez and 18-year-old Chelsea Crancha. All are being treated at Rhode Island Hospital.
Costa’s condition hasn’t been released. Rivera and Crancha are reported in fair condition and Rodriguez is listed in good condition. Police are also investigating whether alcohol was a factor.
