The following author appearances, readings and book events are planned for the coming week in the Valley:

AMHERST BOOKS: Students from the MFA program at the University of Massachusetts Amherst read from recent work today, 7:30 p.m. at the bookshop, at 8 Main St., Amherst. 256-1547.

∎ Kathryn Burak reads from her new young-adult book, “Emily’s Dress and Other Missing Things,” Saturday, 2 and 7 p.m.

ASHFIELD COMMUNITY HALL: Author Jane Yolen and singer Lui Collins perform Sunday, 3 p.m., 521 Main St., Ashfield. Donation to benefit the Upside-Up Music Scholarship Fund: $12 general; $10 students, seniors and low income; $5 children under 12; $29 family max.

CRYSTAL FALLS WELLNESS CENTER: Regional women authors will speak about spirituality in their work during the first annual “Find Your Inspiration: A Spiritual Author’s Book Fair” Saturday, 1-4 p.m. at the center, 285 College Highway, Southampton. Participating authors are Crystal Senter Brown, Sharon W. Flynn, Ellen Evert Hopman, Maureen Kennedy, Susan Downing, Cie Simurro, Lucie Lewis and Lori Szepelak.
