An honest encounter at Look Park in Northampton
To the editor:
Sunday, Veterans Day, my wife and I decided to visit Look Park and go for a walk, since neither of us had been there in years. Being unfamiliar with the rules, a man stopped us at the gate to collect a $3.50 parking fee. No problem, I gave him four ones and he gave me 50 cents change. I parked the car and we started on our walk. About half way through the park, a pickup pulled up near us and the same gentleman from the gate exited and approached us with a one-dollar bill in hand. He gave me the bill and explained I had given him five ones instead of four and he wanted to make sure I got the money back.
What a great gesture! The park management should know that they have a rarity in its employ: a truly honest and caring man. The species is dwindling.
Hang on to this guy, he made my Veterans Day.
