PVTA suspends bus service at 1 p.m.; Connecticut closes highways including I-91
A forecast of high winds from Hurricane Sandy forced the Pioneer Valley Transit Authority to suspend service this afternoon following a final round trip from its terminals at 1 p.m.
The Springfield bus company urges people to visit its website at www.pvta.com for information regarding Tuesday’s service.
Meanwhile, the state of Connecticut has ordered that all state highways are closed to non-emergency vehicles at 1 p.m., including Interstate 91.
There are no plans to close I-91 in Massachusetts, according to State Police.
