In lead-up to election, Brown showing his colors
To the editor:
“Downtown Scottie Brown” is showing his primary colors in this final sprint to the election. Unfortunately, they are not red, white and blue but mostly shades of yellow.
Not so long ago, having Native American blood was something to hide, a source of shame. Today, when people like Elizabeth Warren proudly declare their heritage, Downtown Scottie Brown and his ilk accuse them of taking advantage of it to get ahead in the world — maybe, they insinuate, even to the detriment of whites.
I can only hope that the people of Massachusetts will see through Scott’s cowardly use of racism to divert attention away from his voting record. That is black and white, in print, and tells us all we need to know about his character and his values. What’s more, anyone who claims to be doing the people’s work “every day down in Washington, meeting secretly with kings and queens” is hardly someone whose vision of governing can be taken seriously.
Scottie, in fact, talks a lot about color — people’s color. Elizabeth Warren, he says, does not look like she has Native American blood. Apparently, he’d be more convinced if she had less white and more red skin.
