Authorities continue investigation of South Hadley strip club shooting
NORTHAMPTON — The death of 25-year-old Jean Carlos Bones-Colon, who was shot outside a South Hadley strip club early Sept. 28, is being treated as a homicide, according to authorities.
First Assistant Northwestern District Attorney Steven Gagne said via email Tuesday that several shots were fired outside Anthony’s Gentleman’s Club at 500 New Ludlow Road just before 2 a.m. that morning, killing Bones-Colon, of Holyoke, and wounding a second man who survived. Gagne also said, “we are treating this as a murder investigation.”
The second man, who is not being identified by authorities, was released from Holyoke Medical Center after a “short stay,” Gagne said.
The survivor is not a suspect in the slaying of Bones-Colon, Gagne said.
Gagne confirmed that both men were patrons of the club that night, but declined comment on whether they knew each other.
Asked about the weapon used in the shooting, or a possible motive, including whether it may have been a robbery or whether drugs may have been involved, Gagne said he could not comment.
He said the investigation remains active. “In the sense that this was not a random act of violence, the public should not consider itself at risk,” he said in the email to the Gazette.
Anyone with information related to the shootings is asked to contact South Hadley Police at 413-538-8231, ext. 306, or the Massachusetts State Police at 413-587-5517.
