VOTER ALERT: Town Clerk Kathleen Kelly-Regan reminds voters that the presidential and state election is Nov. 6. Polls for both Granby precincts will be at East Meadow School cafeteria, open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Meanwhile, Wednesday is the last day to register to vote in the election. Kelly-Regan’s office in the Town Hall annex, 215B West State St., will be open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. that day. Mail-in registrations are accepted, but must be postmarked by Oct. 17 to be eligible to vote in the Nov. 6 election.
Registration forms are available in the town clerk’s office, the Granby post office and the Granby Public Library. Forms are also available online at the town’s website, www.granby-ma.gov. Go to the town clerk’s page and click on the voter registration-absentee ballot link and download the form.
The last day to obtain absentee ballots is Nov. 5.
Voters can verify their precincts on the town clerk’s web page. Those who did not cast votes for the past four years, or did not participate in the 2012 town census, might not be active voters. To check voting status, call the clerk’s office, 467-7178.
5K RACE: Public television station WGBY in Springfield will host its first-ever “WGBY Community Champions,” a 5K race and walk on Oct. 21 at Westfield’s Stanley Park. Entry fees will fund station programs. There will be a competitive race scored for all divisions — male and female in youth, adult and senior divisions — as well as a “fun run/walk” for families, a fitness fair and family activities in the park’s children’s pavilion.
