Weekend Planner: Art
It’s the first of its kind and it’s free. The Pioneer Valley ReUse Arts Show and Sale Saturday at JFK Middle School in Northampton will feature work by over 30 artists crafted at least 75 percent from recycled materials (shoes by Sharon Raymond pictured). Running 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., the event will include hands-on activities and demonstrations, plus a Halloween costume exchange of fabrics, hats, prom dresses, tuxedos and more. The artists are welcoming donations of recycled materials, with a wish list calling for keys and other small metal objects, buttons, beads, fabric, lace, leather, broken jewelry, lamps, wool sweaters and coats, wire, paper, postcard, toilet paper rolls and “anything furry.” The event is being held in conjunction with an electronics collection fundraiser for the JFK Middle School PTO, 9 a.m.-noon at the school (“Anything with a plug accepted for a fee”).
